[Event] Bread & Heart Festival – Tirana

On the occasion of the second edition of the Bread & Heart Festival in Tirana, Roueïda Ayache, partner architect at Architecturestudio, took part in a roundtable discussion on the theme: “Territories in Transition: Designing Resilient Landscapes.” Albania and its capital city were at the heart of the discussions.

Roueïda Ayache highlighted the importance of a master plan being able to evolve over time while preserving its fundamental principles. This has been the case with the original master plan for central Tirana developed by Architecturestudio: extending the north–south axis, strengthening the role of nature in the city through the landscaping of the Lana River, preserving urban diversity and the distinct character of each neighborhood, upgrading and activating public spaces, expanding pedestrian areas and soft mobility networks, revitalizing historic heritage, and creating a new architectural heritage that reflects Tirana’s contemporary identity.

Many thanks to moderator Johan Anrys and fellow participants Donncha O’Shea, Lukas Rungger, and Ajmona Hoxha.
