[Project] First stone laid at the Saint-Laurent du Maroni Ministry of Justice City
This Monday, in Saint-Laurent du Maroni, French Guiana, the foundation stone ceremony for our Ministry of Justice City project took place. For this event, the Prefect of French Guiana, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice, the Director of Judicial Services, the CEO of APIJ (the Public Agency for Real Estate of Justice), and the Mayor of the city visited the construction site for a tour under the equatorial sun, led by Impresa Pizzarotti & C. S.p.A., together with architecturestudio.
Marie-Caroline Piot, associate architect at architecturestudio, had the opportunity to present the main principles of the project: bioclimatic building design; low-carbon strategies through the use of local bio-based and geo-based materials; a courthouse architecture rooted in the culture of Western French Guiana, embodying the transparency of Justice and democratic values; and the design of the Penitentiary Centre, providing inmates with a respectful and dignified environment.
Set within an exceptional site on the edge of the Malgache forest, the future Ministry of Justice City aims to reflect the ambitions of the State, both environmentally and socially, opening a new chapter in the history of the city of Saint-Laurent du Maroni.
