[Projects] France 5 report on the CHU construction site in Guadeloupe

On the evening of Monday October 28, France 5 broadcast a report on the construction site of the New University Hospital in Guadeloupe in its program Sale temps pour la planète, dedicated to the West Indian island and directed by Morad Ait-Habbouche.

In the face of climate change, Guadeloupe needs to adapt and better protect its most sensitive infrastructures. The 85,000 m² New University Hospital, which will accommodate up to 700 beds and places, has been designed to cope with cyclonic and earthquake risks.

These challenges were anticipated thanks to in-depth studies into seismicity and resilience to major cyclones. All the hospital’s buildings provide protection for patients and staff, while the technical facilities are built on seismic isolators, so as not to be affected by the acceleration of the earth’s movements. All these measures ensure continuity of care.

As a hospital for all extremes, the CHU project has been designed to respond to climate change and health crises. The project architects are architecturestudio, L’Agence and Babel.
