The new Rui’an Library is unveiled: a literary city in the midst of reinvention!

Nestled in the heart of Zhejiang’s lush natural landscape in China, the new Rui’an Library is a major cultural destination built in close harmony with its surroundings, bridging Chinese tradition and modernity.

It creates a poetic dialogue between the region’s classical gardens, local craftsmanship, and a contemporary architecture subtly integrated into the landscape. The ensemble forms a “garden city” dedicated to literature, where landscape and architecture intertwine to create a seamless continuity between interior and exterior, between reading rooms and landscaped spaces.

– 72,000 m² dedicated to reading, gathering, and contemplation.

– A façade inspired by bamboo forests, echoing the wooded hills that surround it.

– A continuously open reading room, event spaces, a café, and a peristyle open to nature.
