The project implements a thematic guide plan approach, articulating the diagnostic work, the definition of the objectives of the urban environmental approach and urban programming.
At the gates of the historical city of Chartres, the Northeast Plateau is one of the last areas, made up of large military and commercial holdings, where the city can plan its future development. In the background, the silhouette of the Cathedral, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reveals the site’s exceptional landscape potential. The project sets up a thematic guide plan approach, articulating the diagnostic work, the definition of the objectives of the urban environmental approach and urban programming.
The main stake of the project is the registration of the PNE as a new urban amenity increasing
the influence of the Chartres area. To do this, the project aims to enhance views of the Cathedral through a landscape programming the recreational intensification of the site (sports area, aerodrome, parks, shopping and leisure area in extension of the Odyssey Aquatic Complex). Linked to this offer of recreational spaces, the new city areas are proposing to develop an offer of attractive housing for all the citizen, accompanied by services, educational, cultural and transport facilities (incetive parking) and public spaces. Finally, work to regenerate the “already there” will give a new urban presence to the existing heritage.
