Conceived according to the symbols of convergence and multi-disciplinarity, the project’s architecture reflects the diverse fonctional areas of Wison Chemical Group.

The headquarters of Wison Chemical Group extends and complements the existing built landscape of the Zhangjiang Engineering Park in Shanghai. The building echoes the diverse skills of the group and its architecture bears the symbolism of a company that operates in numerous sectors of activity.

To the South, the building opens onto Zhongke Street via a piazza. On the West side, the buildings are oriented towards the river bank and the large neighbouring landscape. The project is divided into five buildings housing a variety of activities and all connected by a central atrium. The transparent ground floors, with their uncluttered surface areas, offer an unobstructed view over the surrounding landscape and facilitate the circulation of users.
The building’s morphology resembles the shape of a hand, with the “Five Fingers” – buildings where the office spaces and laboratories are located –all anchored in a central space, a sociable meeting area where employees run into each other. This space, which is wrapped around a garden, represents the shared living space and the image of the company. The façades and roof have been designed in line with the region’s climatic characteristics, factoring in fundamental parameters such as light and orientation as well as energy consumption. The roof has a climatic covering that provides open-air meeting spaces. The façades of the secondary buildings are covered in red metal cladding with horizontal lines. The façade of the main building takes the form of a spotless polygon pierced by a crescent of light, and responds to the built forms of Zhangjiang Engineering Park. The project won the Award for the Best Office Building in China in 2014.
