A 205-room hotel within the Akwaba complex, which includes shops and a conference centre at the entrance to the Marcory district of Abidjan. The 17-storey Akwaba hotel is part of a site undergoing major changes at the entrance to the city.

The project site is located behind Boulevard Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, the main road linking Abidjan airport to the Marcory district. Eventually, its accessibility will be reinforced and completed by the service of the future urban train. From the Akwaba crossroads, the hotel complex will include a large garden and its hotel residence, overlooked in the elevation by relaxation areas (restaurant, bar, spa) open to the public. The hotel will be a true sign of this urban centre, set in a 50m high tower that will culminate in the city, visible from the Boulevard VGE and the Rue du Canal. The rhythm and orientation of each building on the plot maximises the amount of natural light in these buildings as well as in the surrounding area. In the centre, a large garden emerges, treated as a landscaped park on the scale of the block, linking all the volumes. The hotel features a generous lobby, 13 levels of rooms, offices, a spa/fitness centre and a bar/lounge with a rooftop pool.

The garden base, in the middle of the two adjacent volumes, represents the heart of the project and develops numerous plantings in order to ensure the privacy of users and to offer a place rich in vegetation. It also offers the possibility of establishing independent shops in contact with the boulevard. To the east of the hotel, other similar rights of way but with a different orientation will accommodate the restaurant and the conference centre. The western part of the plot will be able to accommodate three office buildings of varied layout and irregular angles to distance them from the existing and future buildings in the vicinity, and thus frame the openings towards the Abidjan skyline. The lowest volumes, acting as pavilions inserted in a park, are covered with a green roof. On the rooftop, a wooden terrace frames the swimming pool. On a simple and rational geometrical grid, the façade is structured with a thousand and one vertical white slats, a real protective envelope.
