The Ouagadougou Belvedere building consists of interweaving volumes with sleek outlines grouped around large urban lookout points. It rises as a transparent icon overlooking a city radiating a communal and multi-faceted life.

The Ouagadougou Belvedere project is located in the very heart of Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. It is ideally located, in the rapidly developing Zaca district, in the immediate proximity to the airport and the city center. Facing the European Delegation building, it is located on Loudun Avenue, which will become one of the main city arteries and the seat of numerous administrative and institutional buildings.

The project comprises the construction of a mixed-purpose, multi-use building that will establish itself as a new architectural and urban icon, bearing witness of the country’s transformation. The building consists of large structures accommodating residential units, housing, shops and offices. The areas on the ground floor are intended to become commercial premises interfacing with the city. Above this base, a carved-out structure will accommodate a vast square for general use surrounded by multi-functional premises, in-between the public and private spaces. Conceived as a panoramic lookout point, it stands as an ideal location for meetings and exchanges, overlooking the city and the landscape. The complex includes a restaurant, a conference center with a multi-purpose auditorium and several meeting rooms, and promises to become a destination of excellence. On the fifth floor, in line with the presence of the residential units, a second urban window has been carved out of the main mass, emphasizing the semi-private amenities of the building, where communal living is a major issue. This forms a panoramic terrace outfitted with a swimming pool and managed by the condominium, in addition to a number of shared and communal spaces throughout the building.

Based on a pure, opaque shape, the project dematerializes into interweaving volumes with outlines derived from the Burkinabe imagery. All the project’s intended uses revolve around a vast central space which, in addition to the two lookout points, promotes the free flow of air and light within the complex. Conceived as a figurehead at the corner of two major avenues, this distinctive building will become an urban landmark and an example of ecological commitment in the country’s capital.
